A
Deviance
Dysfunction

What is the 4 D’s usrd for
A
Seeks to define what makes behaviour abnormal then to diagnose the problem based on symptoms

What is deviance
A
Behaviour and emotions that are not the norm in society
E.g being exceptionally clever isn’t the norm but is accepted, talking to voices isnt norm and isn’t accepted

What is dysfunction
A
When the behaviour means a person isnt able to cope with the demands of everyday life and every day tasks

What is distress
A
When the behaviour is causing upset to the individual

What is danger
A
Behaviour is assessed as either dangerous to themselves or dangerous to others
