• Can show how components are meant to be assembled
• Can be easily dimensioned
• Can be understood regardless of nationality or language
• Accurate and drawn to scale

• Training is required to produce them
• Can be time consuming to produce
• Expensive equipment has to be bought to produce them

• Can be made to look attractive in order to sell the product
• Tend to be more easily understood than production drawings
