A large woman who teaches a boy how to act. The boy is stealing the women’s purse so the woman catches the child and teaches him whats is right and what is wrong without judging him.She gave him food she washed him and gave him some money.

The theme of the story is power of kindness. With teaching him without shouting with understanding.

The mood of the story is playful and hopeful. The reason is because Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones is very kind a towards the child Roger.
Morals
The moral is that the lesson learned from the story witch is what is right and what is wrong is explained with kindness although it could’ve been explained with anger and rudeness.
Character Analysis
Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones: A large woman with a large purse that had everything in it but a hammer and nails.
Roger:The child who stole the purse. His face is dirty, he lives alone and he wants a pair of blue suede shoes.
Literary Devices
The story includes hyperbole-imagery-repetition and symbolism.
Hyperbole:“…a large purse that had everything in it but a hammer and nails.” a woman cant have these in her purse.
Imagery:”teeth rattling” and that she is kicking him thas all in Mrs. Luella Bates Washington s imagery.
Repetition: Roger is usually called “The boy “ and he answers with “No’m” “Yes’m” to Mrs questions.
Symbolism: The blue shoes.
