How does the PMs office provide policy advice?
It gives the PM advice on policy that may differ from the advise they receive from ministers. Helps set the direction of government policy. Since Blair it has had an important role in coordinating the creation and implementation of policy. Cameron disbanded the policy and and strategy units but then reinstated them after seeing there importance
How does the PM’s office help with communication?
Responsible for the presentation of government policy to the public. This function has become more important due to the increased media focus on the PM. The director of communications will often be someone with previous media experience, like Alistair Campbell
