Monophony
A
Monophony is when there’s one melody in a section and that’s the only piece of texture going on, an exception is drums, as they don’t really count as melody but more rhythm, and another is when instruments are in octaves.

Homophony
A
Homophony is when there’s a melody and a harmony both at the same time, and another variation is a melody and chords underneath

Polyphony
A
Polyphony is when there’s at least 2 different melodies all at the same time, and they’re not necessarily harmonies or variations, but rather completely different tunes.

Heterophony
A
Heterophony is when there’s 2 different melodies, but one has variations of the first, such as ornaments.
