texture Flashcards
overall texture
chamber music is a ‘discursive’ (conversational) form, where ideas are traditionally passed around the ensemble.
specific examples of texture
-homophonic textures common from the beginning where the violin is accompanied by the piano
-right hand melody with broken chords
-augmented counter melodies in cello and violin
-polyphonically animated homophony
-rare polyphonic textures, close imitation in the development section between the cello and violin, combined quaver movement in the piano part
-interplay between violin and piano
-pedal textures (dominant)
left hand doubled octaves
-block chord textures
-octave doubling between the hands and in sixths
-rising and falling arpeggio figures
-accompaniment: rocking quavers, offbeat chords in RH and on beat LH, arpeggio textures
