What is mode?
Physical channel of communication.
What are the three modes of a text?
Written, Spoken, Blended
What does it mean if the mode is blended?
It contains both written features and spoken features
What is a planned text?
If the writer has planned or decided what to write beforehand, then it is a planned text
What is a formal text?
If the text has a formal/serious tone, then it is s formal text. (eg. use of low frequency lexis)
What is a grammatically complex text?
If a text uses complex sentence structures and clauses then it will be a grammatically complex piece of text
what is a standard text?
If standard english is used, then it is a standard text
What is referential/transactional text?
Purely informative text
What is a permanent text?
If it is possible to check what the text says again and again, then it is permanent
what does it mean if a text is delayed?
It can be read at any time once it has been written
what is an unplanned text?
If language is used spontaneously or on the spot, the text is unplanned
what is an informal text?
If an informal tone is created through the use if high frequency lexis or slang, the text is informal
what is a grammatically simple text?
if it uses a simple structure and includes things like ellipsis and minor sentences, then the text will be grammatically simple.
what is a non standard text?
If there is a use of non standard english, then the text is Non-standard
What is an interactive text?
If the text has a social function, and its purpose is to develop relationships between speakers, then it is interactive
