small mills exclusively make woven or knitted fabrics larger ones do both

They purchase from mills to turn woven or knitted fabrics into finished fabrics ie dyeing, printing, finishing, washing

They dispose of excess fabric and buy from mills fabric expected to be on demand later

What does vertically integrated mean
Mills that are vertically integrated make their own fabric yarn and finish their fabric.
What is an importer
They by fabric or manufactured textiles from a foreign mill and bring it to the united states to sell to american apparel manufacturers
What is an overseas agent/intermediary
A person who represents an importer who has access to local business contacts
