Structure of an introduction
1 - immediately adress the topic question
2 - Mention the name of the text, author & context
3 - Answer the question, signposting three main points
4 - Mention any key narrative strategies the author uses to explore ideas
Structure of a paragraph
Topic sentence - address the topic question, focus on idea/message
explain - How the author explores this idea using characters and narrative strategies
Effect - how is the strategy intended to affect the audience
Evidence - discuss key moments from the text, quotes and narrative/film strategies
Explain - How the evidence reinforces the authors intention/message
Conclude - End the paragraph with a statement that sums up the main idea/message of your paragraph

1 - return to topic
2 - restate thesis
3 - summarise ideas
4 - conclude statement
