understanding the laws of God and aim at emancipation, only endeavor for basic necessities, and cultivating Krsna consciousness. The perverted purpose of Dharma is going for material advancement.
Define atyaharah and what are the three categories of Atyaharah?
eating more than necessary or collecting more funds than required. The 3 categories of Atyaharah are: Religion, Philosophy, and Welfare work.
Explain Atyaharah with respect to capitalists and communists.
Modern capitalists accumulate more wealth than necessary, and the communists, envious of their prosperity, want to nationalize al wealth and property.
Explain “Human life is meant for plain living and high thinking.“
means living according to God’s natural arrangement by simple peaceful living with some land and a milk cow and using our higher intelligence to cultivate Krsna consciousness.
Define the concept of Prayasa (Over-endeavor)
Prayasa also known as over-endeavor means problem. Meaning the misuse of higher human intelligence which leads to over-endeavor. For example: Rejection of simple living and high thinking, Production of unwanted and unnecessary things such as factories,slaughterhouses, brothels, liquor shops. Also due to over-endeavor there’s less time for inquiry.
What is the solution to avoid Prayasa (Over-endeavor)
Inquire into the Absolute truth and reduce the endeavor for artificial needs.
Explain the concept of Prajalpa with examples, analogy and the solution
It means unnecessary talking. Some example are newspapers, magazines and novels, crossword puzzles. An analogy is of croaking toads inviting death by croaking out loud which gives away their location. The solution is to not waste valuable time and energy and focus on talk about Krishna consciousness subjects.
Explain the concept of Niyamagraha and its two kinds
With an accent over the first a in agrahah means eagerness to accept/accepting for immediate or economic benefit
“Without” the accent on the first a in agrahah means failure to accept rules and regulations meant for spiritual development
Explain the concept of Jana-sangas and what categories of association should be avoided
Jana-sanga means association of ordinary people. We should avoid associating with those not interested in Krishna consciousness. For example: Bhukti kamis, Mukti kamis, and Siddhi kamis.
Explain the analogy of stock market and the chamber of commerce
Associating with those engaged in a similar line of business is very conducive to advancement in that business. Consequently materialistic persons form various associations and clubs to enhance their endeavors. For example, in the business world we find such institutions as the stock exchange and chamber of commerce. Similarly, we have established the International Society for Krsna Consciousness to give people an opportunity to associate with those who have not forgotten Krsna.
What is the benefit of associating with devotees?
It awakens the dormant Krishna consciousness.
What are the different categories of Laulyam?
Bhukti: whimsical material prosperity
Mukti: Merging into Brahman
Siddhi: Mystic perfection
