its best taken with food , however you can advise to take with food for GI upset but it will decrease GI absorption

best taken at bedtime to avoid esophageal ulceration
What does this medication do to teeth
causes yellow or brown tooth discoloration hypoplasia of tooth enamel
what teeth does this medication effect
it effects decideous teeth, dosen’t effect the permanent teeth - avoid medication in children younger than 8 years of age and to pregnant women.
they will stain teeth of children ages
4 months to 8 years of age who take these medications
advise pregnant women to not take these drugs after
the fourth month of pregnancy
advise clients about the Sun …
these medications cause photosensitivity, intense sunburn, advise pt to wear sunscreen when outdoors
suprainfection
there are suprainfection comlications from this medication afvise pt to warn provider if diarrhea, colitis or yeast infection
Report dizziness seen in pt taking this medication
minocycline causes dizziness, lightheadedness
What are the interactions
there is an interaction with milk products, calcium and iron supplements, laxatives containig magnesium, and antacids.
What do the interactions do if you take them with - a tetracycline medication
- causes formation of non absorbable chelates - thus reducing the absorption of tetracyclines
What do tetracyclines do when taken with oral contraceptives ….
they decrease the efficacy of oral contraceptives - advise of another form of birth control
