Test for Presence of Water
Can be tested with anhydrous copper sulfate, positive when it turns blue and maybe some steam is present
Test for Purity of Water
Measure the boiling point or the melting point of the liquid with a thermometer. The boiling point has to be 100C and the melting point has to be 0C
Test for Carbon Dioxide
Can be tested with limewater, positive when lime water goes milky
Test for Hydrogen
Can be tested with a lit splint and when the splint comes into contact with hydrogen, a squeaky pop sound is produced
Test for Oxygen
Can be tested with a glowing splint. positive, when it relights when in contact with oxygen
Test for Ammonia Gas
Tested with damp red litmus paper, positive when it turns blue
Test for Chlorine Gas
Tested with damp blue litmus paper, positive when it turns red and bleaches white
