Testing for ions Flashcards

1
Q

Test for carbonate ions

A

Add an aqueous acid to the solution, if positive carbon dioxide gas will be produced. Test the gas by bubbling it through limewater, if positive the limewater will turn cloudy as calcium carbonate is formed.
