  2. Blow splint out, so its glowing.
  3. Lower splint into test tube with suspected oxygen gas.
  4. If splint relights, oxygen is present.

  2. Place inside a test tube with suspected hydrogen gas.
  3. If splint gives a squeaky pop, Hydrogen is present.

  1. Take a piece of blue litmus paper and add a few drops of distilled water so its slightly damp.
  2. Lower the litmus paper into the test tube with the suspected chlorine gas.
  3. If paper turns white, chlorine is present.
