Collect 15 cm cubed hydrogen peroxide solution in a small conical flask.
Add a small amount of manganese(IV) oxide from the end of a spatula.
Insert a glowing splint (made by blowing out a lighted splint) in the mouth of the flask.

• Hydrogen gas burns rapidly with a pop’ when you apply a lighted splint.
Oxygen gas relights a glowing splint.
Carbon dioxide gas turns limewater milky (cloudy).
• Chorine gas bleaches damp blue litmus paper white.
