Griggs v. Duke Power Company
SCOTUS held that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited an employer from requiring the passing of standardized intelligence tests as a condition of employment or as a requirement for job transfer when 1) these standards are not significantly related to successful performance of the job in question, and 2) these requirements serve to disqualify racial minorities at a significance, the Court held that discrimination need not be intentional to be illegal.
