1. Place a leaf in a beaker with water and boil for 5 mins.

2. Remove the leaf, place the leaf in a test tube and cover with Ethanol.

3. Turn off Bunsen burners, ethanol is highly flammable.

What will happen if there is starch

The leaf will turn blackish-blue because the plant has been Photosynthesising and creating starch. Iodine is a test for starch so if there is starch in the leaf the Iodine will stain it.
