Test Validity- Content and Construct Validity Flashcards
validity
test measures what it is designed to measure
content validity
such as evaluating content domains (ex- EPPP)
achievement tests need adequate content validity
Face validity
extent to which items look valid to examinees
construct validity
for tests designed to measure a hypothetical trait (intelligence, motivation, etc)
Convergent Validity
degree to which scores have high correlation with scores on other measures designed to assess the same construct
divergent validity
discriminant validity- degree to which scores have low correlations with unrelated constructs
Monotrait-Monomethod Coefficient
same trait, same method for self-report sociability test
Monotrait-Heteromethod Coefficient
same trait, different method when self-report and teach report
heterotrait-monomethod coefficient
different trait, same method. self report sociability and self report impulsivity
Heterotrait-heteromethod coefficient
different trait, different method. self report sociability, teach report impulsivity
Factor analysis use
assessing convergent and divergent validity. administer test, correlate scores (matrix), outcome is a rotated factor matrix
