Test Unit 8 Flashcards
The force or push that causes electric charges to move is called:
Voltage difference
U8 C2
- Explain how lightning is created. Include which type of electric charge transfer it is.
. Movement of clouds causes a buildup of static electricity.
. When electrons build up enough it induces a positive charge on Earth
. Attraction becomes so great that the electrons go to Earth to neutralize.
Which is static discharge.
U8 C1
- Explain how a battery works.
Chemical reaction in the battery creates a voltage difference between the two terminals. When connected this pushes current through wire due to voltage difference. The electrons flow from the negative end to the positive end.
U8 C2
- How do you find the total resistance in a series circuit.
You add up the resistors
U8 C3
- Explain ferromagnetism. Make sure to include what is happening to the electrons in the atoms. You may draw a picture if that helps.
When non-magnetic objects are placed in a string enough magnetic field and become magnetized dues to poles within their atoms aligning(all electrons orient in the same direction)
