Test-u8 Electricity and Magnesium Flashcards
- Explain how lightning is created
Moving clouds create a build up of static electricity. Charge becomes so great it induced a positive charge on the ground. Attraction eventually becomes so strong e- travel to earth (in the bolt) to neutralize.
U8 C4 pg. 25 magnesium
- What does a circuit breaker do?
It bends the circuit
U8 C3 pg. 14 circuits
- Explain ferromagnetism
Phenomenon where objects placed in strong magnetic field becomes magnetized due to the poles within their atoms aligning (all e- in the same direction)
U8 C4 pg 25. Magnetism
- Explain what an electromagnet is
It is a temporary magnet that can be made by using the presence of strong magnetic fields or current
U8 C4 magnesium pg. 26
Providing a path that allows electric charges to travel directly into the earth rather than traveling through a building
Grounding
U8 C1 pg 5. charge
In a closed circuit containing one resistor and battery if the voltage in the battery increases, the current going through the resistor increases. Why does this occur?
As the electrons are pushed more by the battery, they move faster through the circuit.
U8 C3 pg 12. Circuits
Which areas do electric charges always flow?
Negative to positive
U8 C1 pg 3. Charge
