Test - U1 Intro to Anatomy Flashcards
15 Match each statement to the type of tissue that is described…Is the most abundant and widely distributed in the entire body.
Skeletal (Concept 3, Pg. 37)
16 Match each statement to the type of tissue that is described…Used for insulation and protection
Skeletal (Concept 3, Pg. 37)
19 Match each statement to the type of tissue that is described or pictured… adipose tissue
Skeletal (Concept 3, Pg. 37)
31 Label each statement with the type of transport that is described or pictured. Picture of water being transferred across the cell membrane.
Osmosis (Concept 2, Pg. 24)
39 The figure below shows a signaling pathway. Describe what is happening in each of the numbered steps.
In step one the stimuli is being received by the receptor. In step two, the receptor sending a signal to the cell. In step three, the nucleus receives the signal and will then react. (Concept 2, Pg. 25)
24 Explain the structure of the cell membrane. Include the two macromolecules that are embedded within it, the polarity of different parts of the membrane, and why this makes the membrane selectively permeable. You may draw and label a picture if that helps you explain.
The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer. It has carbohydrates and proteins embedded within it. It has non polar and hydrophilic tails and a polar and hydrophobic head. This structure is selectively permeable because it only allows things that attract to the tails. The cell membrane only lets small molecules cross through. Larger molecules must be brought through a transport protein or vesicle. (Concept 1, Pg. 43)
