Test Types Flashcards
Capacity Test
determine the total mass gain of the unit under test at the terminating condition
Collapse Test
capacity test in which the goal is to simulate “collapse” of the unit under test through creating pressure conditions that are much higher than expected to be encountered in actual use
Efficiency Test
determine the retention capabilities of the unit uner test
Fixed Restriction Device Test
track the calibration of the test stations in the lab
Pressure Burst Test
determine the ability of an air filter element to withstand a specified differential pressure and/or to determine the differential pressure at which collapse occurs.
No contaminant is being fed
Restriction/Pressure Test
determine the restriction/ differential pressure/ pressure loss across the unit under test which will result when air is passed through under predetermined conditions
Secondary Element Test
secondary element should block rapidly in the event of a leak occuring in the primary element while passing a minimum amount of contaminant
Separator Efficiency Test
determine the effectiveness of a precleaner or separator
Water Leak Test
determine whether an air cleaner housing is prone to leaking when water or another liquid is sprayed at a likely area
Water Separation Efficiency Test
determine water separation performance of engine intake systems usually by collecting and weighing water that passes our of the unit under test through previously determined “drainage points”
