Q

tell me the five postmodern tenants.

A

Postmodern Tenant #1: Truth is power, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Therefore, absolute truth is absent or unattainable.
Postmodern Tenant #2: Our identity is not given or determined, but passively constructed.
Postmodern Tenant #3: Language is not neutral, and shapes the way we see truth.
Postmodern Tenant #4: There is no wholly impartial, assumption-free approach to truth. An inherited worldview, a set of background prepositions, always shapes one’s interpretation. Truth must be shared as story, not fact.
Postmodern Tenant #5: history and traditions are another form of power, which pigeon hole us into only one way of seeing the world.

Q

Practical realism

A

is a very similar to sceptical postmodernism. Both believe that there is absolute moral truth and both believe that it is impossible to get at it. The difference is that while sceptical postmodern believe the inability to get at absolute moral truth negates any ability to apply it faithfully, practical realists believe that we have the capacity to understand it well enough to be confident in our moral choices.
