24
Q
  1. Explain how muscles work as a pair to bend or straighten the arm at the elbow causing movement at the joint. Make sure you discuss the type of joint movement.
A

Flexion of a joint is a decrease in the joint angle from the body in anatomical position. When the elbow is bent the forearm is flexed which means that the flexor has contracted and pulled the bone of the forearm. Most flexion takes place in a forward motion. This is only shown an exception in the leg where flexion of the leg bends the knee. Extension is where the joint returns to normal in anatomical position or increases the angle.

25
Q
  1. What is a large muscle used in jumping or climbing the stairs or when bent over straightens you up at the hip joint?
A

Gluteus Maximus
