Research has shown that test anxiety through cognitive interference does have negative impact on working memory, where the prefrontal cortex (dorsal section) lowers in function when the emotional system (amygdala/ventral section) is heightened
However, test anxiety may be the reaction, and not the reason, for lower performance on assessment measures
