20 tonnes
What is the cutting force of the Holmatro
38 tonnes
What is the spreading distance of the Holmatro?
320mm
What does the yellow cross on the disc cutter blade mean?
This is an indicator to show when the blade needs to be changed.
What are the reasons for immediate release (extricating a casualty straight away)
Submerged Fire Police direction Toxic atmosphere Hazardous materials Medical requirements
Why might the approach to an RTC incident be slowed?
Weather (heavy rain, snow, ice) Traffic (approaching the incident) Debris and casualties Scene assessment Fend off position
Why would you adopt the fend off position?
To protect the safety of firefighters, the rescue staff and the scene
How many people are used for the combi tool?
2
What is the role of the second person on the combi tool?
To watch and observe, maintaining the safety of the operator. To provide hard protection for the casualty.
What is the aim of space creation
To make the hole fit the casualty, not the casualty fit the hole
What are the hazards associated with alloys
Some alloys will give off toxic fumes when heated They may explode with force when heated or cooled May shatter with explosive force when cut with RTC tools
What is the hazard associated with fleurolastomers?
They will decompose when heated and produce hydrofluoric acid.
What is the distance of the zones in an RTC
The inner zone - 2m The outer zone - 5m
Why do we disconnect the battery?
To prevent the activation of SRS devices +one other answer
Describe phase 1 stabilisation
5 points of stability. 3 step blocks/towers under the sill of the car (two casualty side, one opposite) 2 wheels (diagonal opposites) secured
What are the steps in the first phase of extrication?
Safety and scene assessment Initial access and stabilisation Glass management and tool prep
What are the steps in the second phase of extrication
Space creation Full access Full extrication
What is the safe distances associated when working with airbags
The 5-10-20 rule 5” at the side airbags 10” at the driver airbag 20” at the passenger airbag

Bonded Hinged Rubber seal Sliding
What is the side impact protection system?
Side impact bars which are fitted to the front and rear doors to prevent intrusion.
What difficulty might firefighters come across with the side impact protection system (side impact bars)
The bars are made of boron steel, which the combi tool cannot cut
