Sam Houston lead the remaining forces in Texas back to America, the Mexican Army was after them pushing them out, and then at the aright Time the Americans turned around a defeated them and they captured Sant Anta (Mexican military leader and head of state) and forced him to sign a treaty that gave Texas it’s independence

Many Americans were headed there because it was said to have great soil and have very fertile land, once some finally made it there started wanting to form a government.

War broke out between America and Mexico and America saw this as it’s opportunity to make California independent. American Army group joined with the Americans there and was lead by Fermont.

Fighting over what was the southern border of Mexico? The land between the river was being fought over, Mexican and American forces were both patrolling the same Area. They went to war. Polk wanted all the land he could have.

It was an amendment added on to a bill in congress Said that no slaves would be allowed in the land taken from Mexico, it did not pass. But it was added to each bill and was hotly fought over

Very bad, hash conditions, bad environment, child labor, women and children would work for cheap, long hours and low wages.

Was a slave became a abolitionist and was a famous anit slavery movement leader
Who was Nat Turner?
Led a rebellion in Virginia in 1831, 60 whites were killed during this anti slave movement. He was executed, many slaves were executed even though they had no involvement.
Results: south was scared laws were passed, slaves could not leave without permission, could not get into groups, had patrol watching slaves
Describe the southern economy.
It became the police states in the south. Plantation dominate the economy, cotton was the most important making up 75% of the countries exports.

He was the publisher of the newspaper the liberator, helped increase help in the anti slavery movement

What beliefs supported slavery in the south?
Scared of what would happen if blacks were free, used bible to show slavery in the old testament, it showed class, farmers hoped they would rise in the world and become plantation owners. People looked up to the highest class which was the plantation owners and went by their beliefs.
