Q

Name some things about Hosea’s family

A

His wife was named Gomer. God told Hosea to marry her even though she was a whore. She ran away multiple times to be with other men but in the end, Hosea bought her back. This was done to symbolize God’s relationship with Israel. He had a son named Jezreel to symbolize that God would punish the house of Jehu because of their sins against Jezreel. He also had a daughter named Lo-ruhamah, which means “no mercy” showing that God will have no mercy on His people. His youngest son was named Lo-ammi, which means “not my people” for God said that Israel was not His people and He was not their God. “Not Mine” could have also meant that Hosea’s son was not biologically related to him.
