Third Battle for Charleston

A

Nathanial Greene employed a brilliant strategy to wear out his larger opponent in what was called Race to the Dan; he forced Cornwallis to fight, inflicted casualties then retreated. With Cornwallis occupied, Greene began his reconquest of the south and by the end of June the British controlled Savannah and Charleston.

A

it marked the end of the revolutionary war; Cornwallis built a defense position to protect warships in Yorktown, Virginia; this left him vulnerable to attack by the Americans and French, who trapped him any army and victorious French Navy. bunker hill battle

A

first major battle of the revolution. In June of 1775 (Breds Hill) colonists took Boston but were engaged by the British in the hills surrounding the city; victory for the British but they lost 1200 of 3000 men and the colonists 450 of 2500. They forced Britain out of Boston in March of 1776.
