A
- No Data - There’s no test on the link. Where’s the methodology. It’s default to test all the piece of the spiral of decline at once.
- People question wether police can influence informal social control.
- Discretion.- larger in disorder crimes. As discretion grows the possibility of bias discrimination increases.
- Officer Preferences- There was resistance because the officers didn’t want to do that.

- Suspicious persons - police have a reason to believe person may have committed “serious offense”. An arrest worthy situation.
- Assholes - At first glance they aren’t dangerous. those who don’t accept the police’s definition of the situation. they are a threat to prevent the police from doing their jobs
- Know nothings- Your average citizens- service calls
- They use these typifications so they can quickly assess the situations they are put in.

A
- Real police work- Crime control and felony arrests. if they can make a felony arrest it’s a good day but this is rare.
- Territoriality - Police need to control their geographic space (beat). police work is an observational job. they notice the unusual things going on in the beat. Asshole control

- There is a wide scale discretion of patrol officers. They have the most freedom in the whole organization with no direct supervision.
