Spirituality
Definitive: God is spirit, not a spirit. (John 4:24) He has no corporeal form (physical form) (Exodus 20:4).
Supporting: He cannot be localized, or limited (Theophanies, anthropomorphisms, the incarnation)
Self-existence
Definitive: The ground of God’s existence is in Himself.
Supporting: He causes everything else to depend on Him. (Ex 3:14, John 5:26, Dan 5:23, Acts 17:28)
Immutability
Definitive: God is devoid of all change.
Supporting: He is free from accession, diminution, growth, or decay.
Mal 3:6, James 1:17
Unity
Definitive: God is one numerically (monotheism, Deut. 6:4)
Supporting: God is not a composite (He cannot be divided into parts)
Truth
Definitive: In His being, God fully answers to the idea of the Godhead, is perfectly reliable in His revelation, and He sees things as they really are.
Supporting: He is the one true God in distinction to all others (Isaiah 44:8-10)
Pilate’s Question
“What is truth?”
Answer: Jesus is the personification of truth.
Love
Definitive: God is love. It is not what he does, but who he is.
Supporting: Agape= a reasoned out response which loves the object irrespective of its worth and even though that love may not be reciprocated (1 John 4:10)
Holiness
Definitive: Basic meaning is “set apart” or “separation”. There are two points of emphasis: 1. Transcendent= God is absolutely distinct from all His creatures and exalted above them in infinite majesty. Exodus 15:11
Supporting: 2. Ethical- God is separate from moral evil or sin. He makes the law. He is the standard. (Lev. 11:44,45)
