Test 2 Flashcards
Regulators of respiration
Cerebral cortex( in charge of the skeletal muscle)
Inflation reflex
Chemical stimuli
Cerebral cortex in breathing
In charged of the skeletal muscle, helps control the breathing
They have voluntary control
But they have a limited if there is too much CO2. It will override the control
Inflation reflex
It’s a stretch receptor found in the walls of bronchi and bronchioles.
The walls of the lungs can then only stretch to a certain point
This is what prevents from over inflation of the lungs
Chemical stimuli
They determine ph
Chemoreceptors are found in carotid and aortic sinuses
They are sensitive to CO2 and ph
What happens when the co2 increases
CO2 increases
PH decrease
Stimulates the inspiration center
Hyperventilation (heavy breathing)
