Arianism
taught that the pre existent Christ was the first and greatest of God’s creatures but denied his fully divine status.
Docetism
taught that Jesus Christ as a purely divine being who only had the “appearance” of being human.

What is the difference between saying doctrine changes and doctrine develops?
Development is not synonymous with change/Consider a boy who develops into a man. The person gets biggers and stronger but essence of that person remains the same

What do we mean when we say the Trinity is a “mystery of the faith”?
The mystery of the Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and life

When the devil tells Adam and Eve to eat of the tree, he is not simply interested in getting them to break a commandment? What does the devil ultimately want to do?
God gives this command because he knows they will be hurt if they eat from the tree and does not want them to be hurt. The devil wants Adam and Eve to feel God is limiting their freedom so they disobey him

the intellected is darkened and is unable to perceive truth clearly, the will becomes hardened and does not easily move to love and goodness, passion becomes inflamed and sense tries to rise up and rule will and intellect,

Why did Adam and Eve cover themselves with fig leaves-
they no longer trust each other. The fig leaves reveal something about our fallen nature

What is a vicious person?
lowest level of virtue. He/she does what is wrong with no interior battle or guilt.
What is a weak willed person?
He/she does what it wrong after losing an interior battle and experiences a level of guilt/shame
What is a strong willed person?
He/she does what is right after fighting a major interior battle…experiences anxiousness & frustration
what is a virtuous person?
Does the good with ease
What is prudence?-
virtue that disposes practical reason to discern our true good in every circumstance and to choose the right means of achieving it
What is justice?
?moral virtue that consists in the constant and firm will to give their due to God and neighbor.
What is fortitude?
moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life.
What is temperance?
moral virtue that moderates the attraction of pleasures and provides balance in the use of created goods. It ensures the will’s mastery over instincts and keeps desires within the limits of what is honorable.

How are the theological virtues different from the cardinal?
Cardinal has to be practiced to be acquired, while theological virtues direct us towards supernatural life

Get to heaven by yourself/ given to us and cannot be taken from us
