Do both houses of parliament need to pass bills and enact laws?

What is the order of houses when making bills?
House of Commons, the Senate, Royal Assent
What is the first order of creating a law?
Create a bill- which is considered a ‘baby law’
What is the second step of creating a law?
The first reading- read and printed, MP’s vote
What is the third step in creating a law?
The second reading- Vote again and debate,
What is the fourth step in making a law?
Committees- study/change wording, vote, fix details
What is the fifth step in creating a law?
The third reading- Debate final details and vote again
What does the Senate do in the decision making of a law?
If they don’t agree they can send it back to the house of commons, but if they do approve it can be sent to the Governor General
What is the last step in creating a law?
it needs to be sent to the Royal Assent and they need to approve it, now becomes a law.
