Drafting
An ordinary table found
in school or at home
with a convenient
height, comfortable for
drawing. It is where you
can fasten your drawing
and it is a stand for the
drawing board.
Drawing Table
Made of seasoned
softwood with edges
that are smooth and
straight. It varies from
9”x12” (for sketching &
field work) to 48”x72” or
larger. The ideal size for
students is 20”x24”.
Drawing Board
Used to guide in
drawing horizontal lines.
It is made of a long strip
called the blade and a
shorter piece called the
head. The blade is
fastened rigidly to the
head at right angle.

Erasers
Is the most important
tool of a draftsman
made in hexagonal
shape to fit the thumb,
forefinger and second
finger. Its hexagonal
shape prevents it from
rolling off the table.
Drawing Pencil
are
made of graphite with the
addition of either a polymer
binder or kaolin (clay)
added in varying amounts
to make 18 grades of leads.
The grade of pencil to be
used depends on the type
of work, paper to be used
and the humidity which
affects the paper surface.
Drawing pencil leads
are numbered 1, 2 and 3.
Number 1 is the softest,
number 2 is medium and
number 3 is the hardest.
These are only used for
ordinary drawing works.
