What was the assumption made by the disciples when they asked Jesus why the man was blind?
That the man or his family did something to deserve it. Which illustrates that they were placing their faith
in works rather than in Jesus.
How did Jesus respond to them?
God has a reason for every situation. And that God’s reason is always to provide for others to experience His love.
How did the Pharisees respond to Jesus’ healing of the blind man?
They didn’t care that the man was healed – their focus was upon how they could accuse Jesus & they could persecute Him.
Why were the blind man’s parents afraid of the Pharisees?
They didn’t want to get kicked out of the
synagogue
How did the man who was healed respond to the Pharisees when they said to him in John 9:24 “A second
time they summoned the man who had been blind? ‘Give glory to God by telling the truth,’ they said. ‘We
know this man is a sinner.’”
He testified “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do
know. I was blind but now I see!”
After the blind man responded to the Pharisees, what did the Pharisees do?
They hurled insults at him,
accusing him as sinners, and threw him out.
In John 9:39 Jesus said, “For judgment, I have come into this world so that the blind will see and those who
see will become blind.” When did the Pharisees ask Jesus if they were “blind” how did Jesus say their guilt
would be determined?
a. If they were “blind” (meaning an admission that they are sinful and need Jesus in their life) they
would be NOT GUILTY
b. But if you “claim you can see” (meaning that you go before God and say “look at all the good I
have done” to seek praises from God) they would be GUILTY
Which parable was used in class as an example of Jesus’ teaching in the question above? “blind” how did Jesus say their guilt would be determined?

Why did Jesus say to the Pharisees that the sheep will follow the shepherd but will not follow a stranger?
Because they will follow the voice of whom they believe is their caretaker (there are numerous videos you
can watch online of sheep standing in a field and having all kinds of people calling them over, but the
moment they hear the voice of their shepherd they come right away). This contrasts the previous lesson in
which Jesus admonishes the Pharisees for following the voice of “their father – the devil”.
