Test 1 Nuero Flashcards
CNS Nervous System
Brain and Spinal Cord
Peripheral Nervous System
Cranial Nerves
Spinal Nerves
Autonomic Nervous System
Sympathetic Nervous System
Parasympathetic Nervous System
Two Types of cells
- Nuerons
- Sensory- carry impulses to the CNS
- Motor- Carry Impulses away from the CNS
Neuroglial Cells
-Oligoderdrocytes- Produce myelin sheath in the CNS
Schwann cells
Myelinate nerve fibers in periphery
Astricttes
Blood brain barrier
Epedymal Cells n
aid in the secretion of the CSF
Microglia
phagocytes
Most primary CNS tumors involve neuroglia
it just does
When damaged, all nerve cells will attempt to regenerate
CNS less successful than PNS
Neurotransmitters occurs at the “synapse”
- Acetycholine
- Norepinephrine
- Dopamine
- Serotonin
Spinal Cord- Ascending tracts
-carry sensory information to higher levels of the CNS
Descending tracts
-carry impulses that are responsible for voluntary muscle movement (pyramidal and extraphyamidal tracts)
Upper motor neurons
-Lesions generally cause weakness or paralysis, and spasticity.
