Test 1: Lecture 5 Flashcards
What are the 3 components of clinical assessment report?
History and observations
Results
Interpretation
What are the main points of the objective reports?
Standardized responses Reduces bias in interpretation Emphasis on introspection and self report -prone to subject bias - restricts freedom of response
What are the characteristics of projective techniques?
Ambiguous
Indirect method
Freedom of response
Subjective scoring procedures
What are some methods and types of assessment through projective techniques?
- association
- completing techniques
- choice or ordering–Szondi Test
- Expressive
- constructive
What are the he major types of behavioral techniques? What does it measure/observe?
Direct observation Self monitoring Self report behavioral inventories Cognitive behavioral - observation of behaviour, the actions and unobservable thoughts-
What are the 3 types if psychophysiological techniques?
Electrophysiological
Biochemical
Cortisol measures
What does psychophysiological techniques measure?
Relationship between aspects of personality and bodily processes
What does the electrophysiological include?
Electrocardiogram, electromygraph, galvanic skin response. They read the change in electrical potential. Heart muscles contracting
What is involved in the biochemical aspect of psychophysiological techniques?
Records the biological bases of personality–>measures NEUROTRANSMITTER levels, HORMONES, genetics. Eg. Higher testersoterone–> more risky behaviours
What is involved in cortical measures?
Infers neurological activity. Includes PET, fMRI (concentration of protons/water in brain)
Where do you use the clinical assessment report?
Psychiatric setting
Neuropsychiatric setting
Other medical places
