It’s a means of exchanging information between people through gestures, facial expressions, posture, silence, and vocal sounds other than words.
What is self care?
Self-care is what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health, and to prevent and deal with illness
What are the 6 positive listening skills and critical behaviors?
1) Acknowledge: Provide verbal or non-verbal awareness of the speaker - nod, make eye contact, lean forward, use phrases such as “I see,” “that is interesting” 2) Reflect: Reflect feelings, experiences, or content that has been heard or perceived through cues - “What is hear you saying is…” 3) Probe: Ask questions in a supportive way that gathers more information or avoids/clarifies any points or confusion - “Can you clarify what you meant by…” 4) Support: Show warmth and caring in your own way - “I empathize with what you’re feeling…” 5) Be Quiet: Give the other person time to think as well as to talk and do not interrupt them 6) Paraphrase: Summarize what you just heard at the end of the conversation to clarify any confusion - “to confirm, what I heard you say…”
What did FY 2012 NDAA enact?
It implemented the DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP) in FY12. The D-SAACP is designed to standardize sexual assault response to victims and professionalize DoD victim advocacy. The program consists of three prongs: A credentialing infrastructure for SARCs and SAPR VAs; A framework for skill-based competencies, which identifies and organizes the core knowledge, skills, and attitudes for performing sexual assault victim advocacy; and The evaluation and oversight of SARC and SAPR VA training.

Compassion fatigue is the exhaustion we feel from bearing witness to the suffering and for whom we care for. Trauma does not need to be present.
