What is the difference between hard/software?
Hardware: physical parts of computer
Software: programs (instructions) that tell the computer what to do.
What is a microprocessor?
A microprocessor is basically a CPU. It’s a chip that basically is in charge of keeping the computer functioning and it makes the computer work together.
How is the Microprocessor made?
The microprocessor chip is made of sand and is melted to turn into silicon. They take a big blade and slice thin discs. It uses a type of laser/light to imprint the chip into it. They take another blade and separate the chips.
What are the functions of the microprocessor?
Fetch data, decode data, execute data
Define CPU
Central processing unit (processor). It’s the brain of the computer and it carries out commands.
Define RAM
Random Access Memory. RAM is measured in megabytes and it helps your computer do multiple things faster and better.
Define GUI
Graphical User Interface. Printed documents appear as they do on screen.
What are the two types of software?
System software and application software.
System software: For the actual computer system instructions
Application: instructions for different apps (chrome, games, etc.)
Define motherboard
The computers main circuit board. Connects directly or indirectly to every part of the computer.

What is a network card, sound card, and video card?
Network Card: Allows computer to communicate over a network and access the internet.
Sound Card: responsible for what you hear.
Video card: Responsible for what you see.
Define Gigabytes, Megahertz, and what do they do?
Gigabytes: One billion units of digital information
Megahertz: Millions of instructions per second.
Why are computers powerful?
Speed, reliability, and storage.
Where are files saved?
Files are saved in folders.
