Test 1 Flashcards
What is the hindsight bias
The bias in which is easy to explain something after it happens.
Three ways of knowing
Personal experience, authority, and science.
It’s the variable manipulated by the researcher.
Independent variable
It is measured by the researcher, influenced by the researcher.
Dependent variable
Neurons
Specialized cells that conduct impulses through the nervous system.
Specialized chemicals that facilitate the transmission of of impulses from one neuron to the next
Neurotransmitters
Structure of the neuron
- Cell body
- Axon
- Axon terminals
- Dentrities
The long fiber that carries the long fiber to the nerve impulses.
Axon
The long connection between adjacent neurons.
Synapse
Rapid automatic response to a stimulus.
Reflex
Myelin sheath
The covering of fatty material that speeds up passage of nerve impulses.
Axon terminal
The structure at the end of an axon that produces neurotransmitters to transmit the nerve impulses across the synapse.
The branching filaments that conduct the part of the nerve impulses towards the cell.
Dendrite
The part of the nerve cell containing the nucleus
Cell body
Part of the brain responsible for emotional processing
Amygdala
