why xr important now?
artificial intelligence, spatial computing, game engines
what do AI, SC and game engines have in common?
3D assets: animation and objects
spatial computing
a broad concept that combines the physical world with virtual content. This process enables digital objects to exist and interact with the physical environment as if they were actually there, even allowing the user to interact with the digital objects.
why 360° storytelling
the best kind of immersion, transport audience to a completely new world, becoming mainstream format
two options of 360° video
360° video productions (BTS of a product)
VR environment (create a digital twin of a current space or create a completely new one to use in a VR experience)
zetes & jailbirds
production company that does stories in a 3D world, animated guide tours/trainings
vocabulary of video in 360°
monoscopic
stereoscopic
equirectangular
resolution
equirectangular
Equirectangular projection is a standard format for VR and 360 cameras. That is to say, it is similar to the picture of a flattened three-dimensional globe or a map in Mercator projection. THETA converts the original data taken by two fisheye lenses into a spherical image (in equirectangular format)
monoscopic
monoscopic (not comparable) That may be viewed using only one eye at a time. That has been obtained by imaging from a single viewpoint
one image for two eyes
stereoscopic
Stereoscopy, sometimes called stereoscopic imaging, is a technique used to enable a three-dimensional effect, adding an illusion of depth to a flat image. Stereopsis, commonly (if imprecisely) known as depth perception, is the visual perception of differential distances among objects in one’s line of sight.
two images, one image for every eye (the image is different from eachother
resolution
the quality of being determined or resolute.
1 minute footage 8K = ??? GB
21.9
difference between stereoscopic and monoscopic
With monoscopic VR, 1 image is directed to both eyes, just like a regular image or video. With stereoscopic VR, there are 2 images, 1 for each eye
