separation (literally, “peel away”)

separation of the material (body) from the immaterial (spirit/soul)

separation of the immaterial (soul/spirit) from God because of sin

separation of the immaterial (soul/spirit from God forever) (aka second death)

Pelagian Theory of Headship
man sins by following Adam’s bad example
Semi-Pelagian/Arminian theory of headship
man is afflicted by a soul “sickness”
Mediate theory of headship
man becomes a sinner when the sinless soul is corrupted by contact with the sinful body
Realistic theory of headship
sin is inherited physically through Adam’s line
Federal theory of headship
guilt is imputed forensically/legally by God
Seminal theory of headship
sin nature is inherited physically, guilt is imputed by God
Corporate Personality
man is guilty by association with corrupt race; can bee redeemed by association with good of the race
Depravity
no part of man’s being is untouched by the corruption of sin
