Test 1 Flashcards
What are hydraulics?
Power/Force
How do hydraulics create force?
Pressure in a non compressible fluid builds up and causes change everywhere
Single action cylinders moves in:
One direction
Double action cylinders move in:
Both Directions
Check valves do what?
Allows pressure to build up or be maintained
Isolation Valve
Not a type of valve but a use for a valve
Safety Valve
Designed to shut and stay shut and may not be able to open without restarting the whole process.
Bleed Valves
Allows a controlled release of pressure
Relief valve
Allows an automatic release of pressure
What can scale do to a pipe?
Cause hot spots and break it
Pneumatics are what?
Equipment that runs on air
How do compressors work?
They take air and squish it into smaller spaces
How are compressors different from hydraulics?
Compressors struggle to maintain a constant pressure and are more likely to run on a deadband.
Pneumatic actuators do what?
Turn energy into compressed air into mechanical motion
Data sheets are what?
Important
