Muttasil (Continuous)
2nd. Links of isnad. Continous. Hadith goes back only to a companion or successor.
Mursal (Hurried)
3rd. Links of isnad. Hurried. The link between the successor and prophet is missing.
Munqati (Broken)
4th. Links of isnad. Broken. The link before the successor is missing.
Mu`adal (Perplexing)
5th. Links of isnad. Perplexing. Hadith omits two or more reporters in the isnad.
Mu`allaq (Hanging)
6th. Hanging. Reporter omits whole isnad abd quotes the prophet directly.
Mutawatir (Consecutive)
1st. Consecutive. Number of reporters involved in each stage. Reported by such a large number of people they cannot all come up with the same lie
Ahad (Isolated)
2nd. Isolated. Number of reporters. Number of reporters does not reach that of mutawatir
Munkar (Denounced)
2nd. Nature of the text and isnad. Denounced. Hadith by a reporter is weak and narration goes against an authentic hadith
Mudraj (Interpolated)
1st. Nature of the text and isnad. Interpolated. An addition by a reporter to the text of the hadith being narrated
Sahih (Sound)
1st. Reliabilty of the reporter. Sound. Reporter is trustworthy. Known to be truthful. Understands what he narrates. Knows how a different expression can alter the meaning. Reports the hadith verbatim.
