Product for which manufacturer has voluntarily limited the sale to vets as a marketing decision. Given different name and packaged differently
Ethical Product
Payment by receiving vet of part of their fee to the referring vet who has not rendered professional services
Fee-splitting
A vet who is unable to perform his duty in vet medicine with reasonable skill because of physical or mental disability
Impaired vet
Synonymous for veterinary prescription drug. Refers to statement that is required on the label
Legend drug
Promoting and encouraging owners to improve animal health and welfare by using vet care, services, and products

Merchandising
Any drug that can be labeled with adequate direction to enable it to be used safely and properly by a consumer who is not a medical professional

Practice of veterinary medicine
Transmitting of an order authorizing a licensed pharmacist to prepare and dispense specified pharmaceuticals to be used in an animal in the dosage and manner directed by vet
Prescribing
A drug that cannot be labeled with adequate direction to enable its safe and proper use by non-professionals
Prescription drug
A vet to whom a patient is referred and who agrees to provide requested vet services. A new VCPR is established
