Terms & Definitions Flashcards
Film extruded as one layer using all resins throughout
Monolayer
Film extruded in more than 1 layer. Typically 3-9 layers with each layer using resins with different properties.
Coextrusion
The ability for material to stretch
Extensibility
A film is _____ when it has been stretched in both directions during production
Oriented
A type of extrusion where a thick and narrow material is stretched into a much thinner and wider material by a series of rollers
Cast Extrusion
The ability for a substrate to block movement of materials through it (moisture or oxygen)
Barrier
The force required to move two materials across each other
Coefficient of Friction (COF)
The force required to initiate movement (COF question)
Static Force
The force required to maintain the movement of materials already in motion (COF Question)
Kinetic Force
