Q

What did Nietzsche mean by ‘God is dead’?

A

Nietzsche realised after the enlightenment that people had strayed from their theistic based beliefs of the universe, and started thinking scientifically. Because of this, theism decreased in popularity. Nietzsche found this significant, since the absence of a God would mean that there is no correct morality. “How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers?”
