Praxis
skilled purposeful movements needed in order to carry out motor activity in the correct sequence
Positioning Body Parts
placing anatomical parts in correct position
Joint mobility
the ease in which a joint moves
Postural control
maintain good posture and alignment
postural alignment
proper alignment of joints that allow for functional movement

absence of muscle tone
spasticity
“tightness” increase of muscle tone with passive stretch
fluctuating tone
fluctuating tone between too much and too little
muscle endurance
maintaining the contraction of a muscle for a long period
motor reflexes
involuntary contraction of muscles to specific stimuli
asymmetrical tonic neck reflex
prevents infant from rolling over before ready
symmetrical tonic neck reflex
gets baby into crawling position
Righting
suddenly being thrown off position and the person reacts to stay upright
supporting
trunk supports upright position
motor control
coordination of muscle groups to complete a task
fine motor
utilizing the fine muscles of fingers and hand
gross motor
lg muscle of the body coordinate together for big movement (jumping and kicking)
crossing midline
one side of the body crosses imaginary midline
laterality
ability to use one side of the body at a time (writing)
Bilateral integration
using both arms or both feet at the same time
visual-motor integration
coordination of eyes and body during an activity
oculomotor control
coordinated movement of eyeblls to perform activity
saccades
rapid eye movements that change line of sight
pusuits
smoothness of eye movement to keep an image in focus (watching football in the air)
accommodation
