Crepitation
Crackling sensation produced when gases trapped in tissues are palpated - subQ emphysema or tissue gas
Cyanosis
Blueish colour on skin and lips due to a lack of oxygen
Gangrene
Necrotic tissues due to a lack of blood supply to parts of the body
Wet gangrene
Necrotic tissues that are wet as result of a lack of venous drainage. Tissues are a red to black in colour
Dry gangrene (Ischemic necrosis)
Condition that results when the body part that dies has little blood and remains aseptic. Arteries are blocked but not veins. Tissues are a red-brown to black in colour
Gas gangrene
Necrosis of a wound infected with an anaerobic, gas-forming bacillus - commonly C. perfringens
Hemochromatosis
A hereditary disease that causes your body to absorb and store too much iron
Hematogenous
Originating in or carried by the blood
Hemorrhagic Effusion
Blood leaking into a cavity usually by a ruptured blood vessel or organ
Jaundice AKA Icterus
An excessive concentration of bilirubin in the skin and tissues causing a yellow appearance in bodies
Suggillation
Eccyhmosis developed postmortem
Purpura
Flat medium-sized hemorrhage under the skin surface
Petechia
Small pinpoint skin hemorrhage
Hematoma
Swollen blood-filled area within the skin
Ecchymosis
Bruise
